Plotters are vector graphics printing devices. They are used to print graphical plots and are connected to a computer. There are two types of them: the pen plotters and the electrostatic plotters.
Printing with pen plotters is done through a pen which rests on top of the paper. Pen plotters can print very complex lines and text, although it takes a while due to the mechanical movement of the pen. Nowadays, pen plotters are considered to be obsolete.
The two famous makers of plotters are Hewlett-Packard and Tektronix
